Suzanne’s Cushion, Piping and Zips Workshop – October 2014

Have you ever looked at the cushions in John Lewis or Laura Ashley and wondered how they are made?  At this workshop we learned the techniques used to make cushion covers with a piped trim and a zip closure.  Suzanne gave lots of tips from the soft Furnishing Trade that can’t be found in a book that will give our sewing a professional finish.

The morning was spent ‘classroom style’ and covered all we needed to know about how to measure, cut, join, sew, pipe and insert zips for cushions, bolsters, box cushions and Oxford Pillows.  The afternoon gave us the opportunity to put what we had learned into practice, making up samples to keep and refer to when making our own cushion covers.
